World Hypertension Day 2024 - Raise Awareness, Save Lives

🌍 As we commemorate World Hypertension Day on May 17, 2024, let’s join hands to combat the global epidemic of non-communicable diseases. Hypertension is a silent killer, affecting over 294 million individuals in the South-East Asia Region alone.

🔍 This year’s theme, 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer,' emphasizes the importance of early detection and management of high blood pressure. Did you know that half of adults with hypertension are unaware of their condition?

🔄 Let’s take action by implementing evidence-based strategies:

1️⃣ Reducing key risk factors: Implementing WHO Technical packages for tobacco control, salt reduction, promoting physical activity, and reducing air pollution.

2️⃣ Strengthening interventions: Enhance coverage and management of hypertension within primary healthcare by following WHO HEARTS guidelines.

3️⃣ Setting national targets: Regularly monitor progress towards SEAHEARTS milestones to drive accountability.

4️⚖️ Convergence in services: Integrate hypertension prevention and management services with other health programs for comprehensive care.

5️🤝 Empowering communities: Encourage self-care management with healthy lifestyle choices and regular monitoring of blood pressure.

👥 Let’s unite efforts to combat hypertension, overcome this public health challenge, and pave the way towards Universal Health Coverage. Together, we can make a difference! 💪🩺
